6 life Hacks Everyone should learn from Indian Army

The Indian Army is a force beyond comparison. They lead a daunting life, encountering varied adventures as they hop from one place to another throughout the country. With colourful problems, come colourful solutions. Here are six hacks from the military way of life, which you may employ in various situations:

NO BED? NO PROBLEM.

If you are asked to shift your entire home and life to a new town every two years, you are bound to have furniture and luggage which is convenient to handle. It often happens with Army families that there aren’t enough number of beds for each room, or there are too many boxes to fill into the garage. At this moment of trouble, wooden boxes or large solid containers can be easily combined together to organise a make-shift, comfortable bed. Throw two mattresses and a new bed sheet on top of the symmetrical arrangement and you have a solid bed right in front of you. The best part? Your miscellaneous, extra stuff goes into these boxes and right out of sight, leaving your new home a much tidier place.

FIRST- AID FIRST

The Army believes that one must always carry a few emergency medicines and bandages as a go- to first aid kit, no matter where you go. You may keep one in your car or at your workplace too. Ladies especially, can make use of the handbags they carry, and store medicines for common ailments, band- aids, and hand sanitizer. In this way, you too can prepare for any situation that may come your way and tackle it like a pro. If nothing else, you may be able to help someone in need.

SLEEP TO SAVE TIME

When any tedious hours, mishaps or wars strike, sleep becomes the last of a soldier’s priorities. Therefore, soldiers are taught to catch up on sleep whenever the location and situation seems favourable. In times of exhaustion, the right amount of darkness, peace or quiet do not matter. You too should take on this quality. Whenever it seems appropriate, catch up on your sleep and allow your body and mind to rest. If anything, you can train your body to sleep in time or shut off your brain immediately whenever you need a break.

BE SAFE

The Army has clever ways to be prepared for any danger around. For example, if you think someone is following you, make four consecutive right turns. If they’re still there, drive to a police or fire station. It makes sense to be cautious and safe, rather than hesitant and in danger. The Army is all about presence of mind and courage, anyway!

THE SKIVVY ROLL

Army men and their families cannot carry a truckload of luggage every time they need to go on short trips or temporary duties. It always helps to have a few tricks up your sleeve in order to pack efficiently. In this case, the ‘skivvy roll’ or the ‘grunt roll’ comes in handy. The skivvy roll compactly bundles basic clothing items such as socks, t-shirts, and underwear in one easy-to-grab ball. This technique can be learnt easily by checking out links and videos online.

UN-DIGITISE YOURSELF

The Army is at par with the world when it comes to how modernization. However, it still chooses to have certain traditional methods of safeguarding its information. Old is gold, in certain matters at least. We are all so hooked to our cell phones, laptops, and back- ups that we often forget to make hard copies of our personal and professional information. This is because we believe that it is additional hard work. However, it seems logical if we store all our contact numbers, addresses, and special information on paper. All this shall come in handy in case some technical glitch takes place.

Hope these hacks help you in coping with daily situations. Good luck.
