Pregnancy is a crucial phase of a woman’s life and it is important to be in the pink of health during this phase so that the baby is healthy. Many women often struggle to know if they are pregnant or not because, let’s face it, no protection is 100% safe, and in today’s world conceiving has become a problem for a certain percentage of women. Hence, no woman is ever sure if she is pregnant or not until she goes in for a home pregnancy test which will come at a much later stage, so here are a few signs, in no particular order, that would help you find out about the pregnancy earlier.
Fatigue – Well, being pregnant can be quite tiring because your body starts working overtime to ensure that the baby is getting all the nutrition he/she needs. Hence, make sure you eat properly and get enough sleep because only these things can keep you going even in the tiring pregnancy days.
Morning Sickness – Around 50 to 90 percent women experience morning sickness which is believed to set in from the sixth week of pregnancy. The mother usually feels nauseous and may feel pukish also. It is pretty common in pregnant women so there is absolutely no need to freak out, staying calm will help you get over with it.
Dark nipples – Within the first few weeks one can see a noticeable change in the areolas (the region around the nipple). They become darker and indicate pregnancy within the first two weeks of conception. This is basically because of hormonal changes.
Spotting – You may notice spotting after around 10 days of conception. The reason for this is the implantation of the embryo in the uterus. No, it is not painful, and the bleeding is called implantation bleeding.
Frequent urination – A pregnant woman will have to suffer with the problem of frequent urination, just another way of hormones to play with the human body by producing too much of a hormone called HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). This is the same hormone whose presence in your urine makes the pregnancy test positive.
Cravings – As said by the older people, pregnancy is a phase where women crave for food items. The exact reason for these cravings is unknown, but it could simply be your body’s way of telling what it wants.
Swelling or bloating – Pregnancy does cause swelling and bloating, many women also figure out that their breasts become swollen during the first trimester. This could be because of increased blood flow or because of the production of estrogen and progesterone.
Sensitive to smell – Women become extremely sensitive to smell during their pregnancy. They just become more receptive to the aroma of food, there is no known reason for this change, but it totally alters your sense of smell.
Missed Period – The most obvious way of finding out that you are pregnant is to keep a note of your periods. It is the most dependable sign and will lead you to the next obvious step which is getting a pregnancy test. One could use the test if they have a delay in their period.
Home pregnancy test – There are pregnancy sticks in the market, which one could buy and use to test pregnancy at home. The sticks are simple to use because the woman just has to pee on it, and as discussed earlier, if there is HCG hormone present in your urine, the test will come out to be positive. They are mostly reliable but one can do it repeatedly to be sure.
Finding out if you are pregnant or not can be quite a task in itself, but the good thing is that it will surely prepare you for the rest of your life as a mother. So, look for the signs and know what exactly is happening inside your body.
