Here’s a list of things that you can do to ensure that the tyre stays in optimum condition for a long time.

Proper inflation

Manufacturers set the tyre pressure after a crucial series of tests. The recommended tyre pressure from the tyre or the car manufacturer should not be ignored at all. Tyres that are not properly inflated can cause disasters. Check the tyre pressure every 7 days or 600 km to ensure it is properly inflated.

Over Inflated tyres can be dangerous. Air expands on heating and overfilled tyres have no room to accommodate the expanding air when the tyre becomes hot. Hence, it is not a safe practice to put more than recommended pressure.

Under Inflated tyres are even more dangerous. The tyre walls flex more and take more load if the tyre has lower air pressure. The tyre develop cracks and can cause tyre burst. Cars will lower air pressure are also difficult to drive and the steering becomes heavy.

Overloading

All the tyres have certain load specification. Crossing that will cause extreme pressure on the tyres. Overloading the vehicle can cause the tyres to heat up quicker. Overloading is extremely dangerous for driving too. All the tyres come with markings on the sidewall that will tell you about the maximum weight a tyre can take. Always read that and never try to overload the vehicle.

Balance, alignment and rotation

Balancing and alight is extremely important and should be checked every 5,000 km.Whenever a car goes through bad surfaces or speed breakers, the wheels lose their alignment and go out of place by a little. If the tyres are out of alignment, they start to drag and go in different directions. It makes them wear quicker and also makes the vehicle work more, bringing down the efficiency.

Balancing of the wheels are equally important. Unbalanced wheels can give bad vibrations to the vehicle and can cause serious accidents.

Speed

Speed heats the tyre quickly. The tyre constantly provides grip with the surface and during high-speed, the tyres do not get enough time to cool down. The constant high speed can cause tyre bursts. Always keep an eye on the speed limits and follow that for safer journey.

Wrong tyres

There are different kinds tyres for different kinds of situations. If you are using Mud-terrain tyres, they will have bigger blocks to provide more traction but the same bigger blocks will prove to be extremely high traction on the road. It damages the tyres quickly.

Braking and accelerating quickly

The tyres have to work more when the vehicle is accelerating or braking harshly. The rubber goes through extra stress during these situation. Always bring your vehicle to stop by using the brakes gently and accelerate smoothly. It also ensures that you get high fuel efficiency.
