Six months of this year has already gone and we have seen some good launches in form of Vitara Brezza, and Datsun Redi-Go. Now we waiting for the other hits like the Maruti Ignis and the Jeep brand to take on the Indian roads. Taking one segment at a time, we will bring you the upcoming cars in a series that will be launched in India this year.

Ford Mustang

The Mustang will become the first muscle car to be launched in India in its history. The American supercar has been a dream car for many and has been a poster car in bedrooms since its old days. The new Mustang, however, looks very different and modern when compared to the previous year models. The new Mustang gets a eco friendly EcoBoost engine in the international markets but only one engine option will be launched in India. The car is powered by range topping 5.0-litre V8 engine that makes 401 PS of maximum power and 515 Nm of maximum torque. The Mustang will cost around Rs. 60 lakh ex-showroom.

Polo GTI

When: August 2016

The three door hot hatchback is coming to India. The car has been caught testing on the Indian roads numerous times and it won’t be long before Volkswagen finally launches the car in India. The GTI is a performance hatchback and was showcased during the Auto Expo held in India earlier this year. The GTI is powered 1.8-litre Turbocharged petrol engine that develops a maximum of 190 PS of power and is mated to a state-of-the-art 7-Speed DSG transmission. GTI will also become the fastest and the most powerful hatchback when launched in India. Volkswagen will put a price tag of around Rs. 20 lakh on the car.

Jeep Renegade

Fiat owned Jeep brand is planning to enter since a very long time and finally, the time is here when the big fuel guzzlers will be seen on the Indian roads. The Renegade SUV has the platform of Fiat’s small car 500X and is powered by a 2.0-litre Multijet2 engine. The engine comes in two different state of power – 140 PS and 170 PS. Jeep will offer option of six-speed manual unit and nine-speed automatic with the model. Initially, the Jeep cars will be imported as Completely Built Units and will cost around Rs. 30 lakh.

Honda Accord

Accord has been one the first choices for the customers looking for luxury sedans in India since a long time but the shift to diesel and low demand of the car forced Honda to stop the sale of Accord in India. Now Honda is preparing the new Accord to land in India later this year. The new Accord will be nothing like the previous Accord. Under the hood, a 2.0-litre petrol engine mated with an electric motor works to produce a maximum power of 143 PS with peak torque of 306 Nm. The hybrid Accord will prove to be a big challenge against Toyota Camry hybrid. Price will hover around Rs. 30 lakh.

Tata has been working to change its image in the Indian market. The result product is the Tiago which is genuinely good car from the Tata brand. The Kite5 will be the sedan version of the Tiago is a much awaited car in the Indian market. Tata showcased the car during the Auto Expo and it looks very proportionate in the segment. Tata will put the car against the likes of Honda Amaze and Maruti DZire.
