What the world has come to: the brighter side

The harbinger of hope and prosperity, the icon of strength and tenacity, and the holder of a bright future, wondering who this is? The youth! Yes, the youth. It has everything that it takes to bring a nation on the path of success and speed up the development, to pick up the crippled society on their shoulders and take it forward, to win the battle against the foes of humanity. We all have seen various examples where the youth of our country has come forward to support what they truly believe in, whether it was protesting against the rapists, for Nirbhaya, or supporting the new government in New Delhi, it was the youth which has showed what a deadly combination courage and unity can prove to be.

The mantle has been passed from the teacher to the taught, making them aware of their responsibilities. Frustrated with the current situation prevailing in the country, the youth has stepped up and is ready to up its game by stepping into the non-conventional zones of the economy. The youth is garnering strength and support and taking up jobs which promote the greater good. The jobs which may not be the best paid but favour humanity and philanthropy such as the NGO sector. This sector has seen immense growth in the last decade and the reason for this is the youth which is ready to take risks. The young generation, which believes in following its heart, is taking up the herculean task of changing the society and creating a better future for the country. They want to start from the root of the problem and they are targeting just that.

The popular belief that educating the masses can bring about the change we all wish to see in the society, has affected the better part of the youth. They believe educational equity is the key to a bright and prosperous future. Building a future step-by-step by educating the little ones who go to a normal government school has been one of the key operations of NGOs like Teach for India(TFI) in metropolitan cities. TFI recruits fellows from various cities for a two year fellowship through a rigorous process of selection and places them in government schools. Fellows, in classes, provide a friendly and healthy environment for the kids to learn and become capable of competing with their privileged counterparts. This is the beginning of a ripple effect. The kids learn from the fellows placed in schools and go home and try to educate their families. The fellows also work closely with the communities they are placed in, trying to help them solve the problems the families are facing on a day-to-day basis.

Many other NGOs work closely with the communities and other NGOs as well to ensure that help reaches these classrooms and related communities. They want the economically backward classes of the society to feel cared for. These small steps and great intentions are on their way to create a big change in the economic landscape of the country.

Such jobs don’t only require skill but also a lot of dedication, hard work and selflessness. The youth is inspiring and pushing the country to reach a new level of development. They don’t fancy air-conditioned offices anymore, they are happy to walk for hours in the sun trying to reach all the families which live in the remote areas of a metropolitan city. The outlook towards life, the attitude towards the society and the urge to change the current scenario is being transformed for the better. It is a wave which will soon consume most part of the country and we will be able to see a change which will be constant. The buck stops here!

I am glad such a beautiful article has been placed here by Nandini and I also appreciate the efforts of the entire team dedicated to highlighting the positive things. Unlike others who are running the business to generate funds and make money in name of youth.
