India recently spent $37.7 billion dollars in a deal with Russia to buys arms. For some years now there has been a growing voice supporting development of defense equipment in our own country. We spend enormous amount of money buying aircrafts, weapons and technology from European countries which are rigged with corruption and shady defense dealings, besides this the technology that we get is often outdated compared to what other countries are using. But what is it that we lack ? The development may take years and the need is urgent. But there is hope as more budget is being allocated to DRDO maybe in a few years we will be able to produce our own equipment.
