Agriculture In India

India has the eleventh largest economy in the world in terms of nominal GDP and is the fourth largest when it comes to measuring the PPP or the purchasing power parity. The nation of India had been primarily dependent on its endowment of natural resources in immense scale and thus primary sector had always acted to be a catalyst ion the growth process of the Indian economy. India, being heavily dependent on the agricultural sector has given maximum stress in developing the agriculture and the production of agricultural commodities like food grains and others.

The Indian agriculture has experienced several twists and turns right form the British rule. During the British rule, the nation was forced and compelled to produce and export the agricultural products produced in the country to Britain at a very low price. The poor farmers were unnecessarily exploited and tortured for selling their products at low cost to the British. After the massacre that was caused for exploiting the indigo farmers, the country felt the necessity for being an independent one when it came to agricultural up gradation. After the achievement of independence in 1947, several plans were prepared for raising the productivity of the Indian agriculture and hence to attain self-sufficiency in the agricultural sector. The notion of self-sustained growth in a densely populated country like India could not be achieved by improving the secondary and the service sectors but to start with improving the primary sector.

After the wars of 1962 and 1965 with China and Pakistan respectively, drought followed and the country began to suffer from disruption in a steady growth in food grain production. The government took necessary step and began to import PL-480 food grains from America, shelling off half of the foreign exchange deposits.

The advent of the year of 1964 and 1965 saw the rise of a revolutionary change in the Indian agriculture, popularly known as the green revolution that was perhaps the key factor behind the recent developed phase of the agriculture in India. The green revolution had also contributed much in the development of the countries economy and hence stimulated the process of self-sustained growth for the Indian economy.

The Indian agriculture is growing interms of production rate. Though there are not many research works going on in this field, the Indian economy relies on agriculture for contributing its major share. The pre-independence era concentrated majorly on the agricultural field. With the advancement in technology the agricultural techniques and tooling has improved and these are being deployed rationally by the Indian farmers to optimize production.

I agree to the fact that Indian economy is primarily based on agriculture and major share of the national GDP is coming from cultivation. lately, many measures have been observed to take Indian agriculture sector to next level with the help of development in agricultural techniques, hybrid varieties of crops, rain-water harvesting, water shed and many more. It is expected that in no time, India will see huge growth in this sector, which will not only benefit the farmers but will also raise national gross domestic product with the improvement in exports.

That's true

Yes, I am really happy and proud to see the growth of my nation in the agriculture sector. As India has started adopting many latest technologies to enhance its production in agriculture, I am sure that day is not far when India will top the list to produce maximum through this sector.

One of the main reasons of growth in agricultural sector is use of hybrid variety crops, which has enhanced the growth of many different crops that was difficult earlier.

Is our Indian Agricultural sector dying?

There is no doubt that the India is now growing on economical front. Today India is the seventh largest in area with 2nd largest in population and about 66% of the population earns from the agriculture sector. The India has reached a level where it is now has the fastest growing economy and is the 12th largest in terms of exchange rate. According to the report from Reserve Bank of India, though Indian economy is growing well in other sectors, but the agricultural sector is showing a sharp decline since 1991. What could be the possible reason behind this and what preventive measures should be taken to protect this asset of our country?

india relies much on agriculture but ironically when we compare the production output to the land used for cultivation, the ratio is far too less which is not so in case of developed countries. we should utilize more sophisticated machinery and agricultural techniques to increase the production to several folds which is not impossible job, just that its lazy government to help the farmers.

That is great information. I know that India is the leading country in agriculture and 80 percent of Indian people are involved in farming. The land of india is the best suitable for agriculture purpose and the remuneration the Indian farmers are getting is far cheap. The selling price of the farmers should be increased as to get the rich farming.

indian agriculture has changed a lot since time of independence where it was more of a labor work. but now it is the deployment of machinery and hi-tech instruments which aid in agriculture production enhancement. but the change when compared to the developed nations is of low standard because they use high end technology to increase the productivity several folds. if india succeeds in deploying such tactics, it would stand on the top of the world

Agriculture is the most important business of the indian farmers and generates huge revenue for the country and the government. there are many flaws in indian agriculture as Indian farmers are dying at a rapid speed but government is doing nothing in this direction. They are dying out of low technology machines and have to work for hours and hours in the field. though there are many latest technologies that are developed but they cannot bear the expenses. Government is also not providing them with such machines to lessen the burden. This is the reason why these farmers are dying.

agriculture is the only means through which the poor of india are surviving. if government plans to revive this sector with high grade technologies and by allotting farmers more subsidies, the poorer section can definitely be brought up. this would also give a boost to indian economy as agriculture is a good contributor to the indian economy

Indian agriculture and farmers do play an important role in making india a most developing country. the agricultural department of india export so many raw food stuffs to other countries as being a major in agriculture india is yet to adapt the latest technology in improving their agriculture techniques. the economy is highly Dependant on the agriculture.

India is known as the land that is based mainly on agriculture. This is usually students and people read in school times, which is perfectly correct. But this is also the fact that this industry has not shown any growth since independence due to the ignorance of the government to this agricultural sector. More than seventy percent of Indian farmers are linked with the business of agriculture and many of our grains are exported to different countries. This is the best source of income of the government and still no attention is paid to this field.

Indian agriculture is well know for its long time prevalence over the time for our economy largely depended on it. But now the agricultural sector almost remains the same without much improvement on yields. We hope government takes steps to introduce better agricultural techniques so that agriculture in India gets its revival.

If you talk about agriculture then it is the best thing happening with india. Agricultural sector is the strongest part of indian economy as people around 70% are indulged in indian farming and agriculture is the main occupation of the indian people. The export of wheat grains, paddy and other items fetch the superb revenue to the indian government. But there is a sad story attached to every thing and same is the case with the indian agriculture. Government is not introducig the latest technology for the poor farmers to ease their work. if that is done then the farming revenue would become double.

Agriculture is the main occupation of indian people and due to this there are several education centers are opened by the government that gives training to people to get the knowledge of agriculture thoroughly. Agriculture is the basis of the indian economy and more than half of the indian population is involved in agriculture. This is a right step taken by the government that it has opened these institutes or training centers for the benefits of those people who are interested in agri studies.

Agriculture in India has long been the source of income to most of the Indians. Considering today's India, agriculture is not faring well enough as much it is capable of. We are still living off the old methods of harvesting and culturing the crops which is sole reason as to why agricultural sector remains in the darkness. If this sector is revived with latest technologies, i think it could contribute significantly to the Indian economy.

India is an agriculture based nation. In ancient times indigenous forms of cultivation took place. However though a great percentage of the land is put to cultivation still the ratio of production compared to the area under cultivation is very less.Farmers lead a life of poverty and are exploited by the landlords. When the crops fail the condition of the farmers deteriorate.
But now as the government has formulated many schemes for the welfare of the farmers, farmers are able to cultivate more crops on a small piece of land and carry out intensive agriculture.Scientific methods of cultivation reduce the risk of crop failure.
However in some remote villages the farmers still lead a life of extreme poverty and are ignorant about the scientific means of cultivation.Government should provide the poor farmers with loans on minimal interest rates, free pesticides, machinery and educate them regarding cultivation.Government should ensure that subsidies provided should fall in the right hands.

Agriculture is one of the oldest sector on which the livelihood of most of the Indians were dependent upon. It has seen lots of ups and downs since the feudal system in India. Agriculture is still one of the primary means of livelihood for many states in India and this sector has a great influence on the economy of the nation. India is mainly an agriculture based nation and the Government should become more active and provide the farmers with highly developed equipments and other facilities to increase production.

Yes nice to listen the position of India. But another side very sad to know that the farm lands are sold for construction of flats and buildings as the profit is more.I think I am not telling any wrong.
