Akola is a hamlet in the state of Maharashtra and is a commercial hub of the nearby districts. The town has a rich historical past and was under the rule of the Maratha rulers. The town hosts several historical monuments and this attracts some of the tourists from in and around the state. The town is also known as 'cotton city’ of India and is also well known for oil, pulses and textile mills. Apart from being a heritage destination and an emerging industrial center, the town also has religious significance as it houses several religious places. the Narnala Fort, the Akot Fort, Raj Rajeshwar Temple, Birla Mandir, Jain Temple, Shreenath Dutta Mandir and Swami Samarth Temple are some of the attractions of the place.
