The Indian aviation sector has been a slow compared with its growth potential due to too much regulations and taxations, government ownership of airlines and resulting high cost of air travel. However, this has changed fast over the last decade with the sector showing volatile growth supported by structural reforms, airport modernizations, entry of private airlines, adoption of low fare - no added extras models and upgradation in service standards. Air travel has now been changed into a means of mass transportation and is slowly detaching its limited image.
