Badami is a heritage destination of Karnataka and is well-known for its rock sculpture and temple architecture. It is a small town and was originally known as Vatapi. The place has mythological tales of the great Indian epic Ramayana is related to it. It has a rich historical background, which is evident from the architecture of the temples and sculptures and was ruled by the Chalukya Dynasty. Some of the major tourist attractions of this town are Badami Fort, a Buddhist Cave, an archaeological museum and a series of four cave temples.The Banashankari Temple Festival is one of the most prominent festivals of the town and this attracts thousands of devotees in and around the state.
