The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday released its election promising to retrieve Indian money stashed Abroad, raise the income tax
limit and provide rice at Rs/kg for below poverty line (BPL) families.

The election manifesto, which was released on the occasion of Ram Navami, presented an alternative economic model aimed at putting the nation economy back on track. The BJP has put greater emphasis on strengthening the national economy, tackling terrorism and improving the law and order situation in the country.

The manifesto says, “There is an overwhelming desire of the people in India and abroad to have a grand temple at the birth place of Sri Ram in Ayodhya. The BJP will explore all possibilities, including negotiations and judicial proceedings, to facilitate the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Gangaâ€￾.

“Ram Setu Ram Setu is our national heritage. Millions want to visit it and it can be developed as a centre of cultural tourism. For millions it is a place of pilgrimage. Saving Rama Setu is to save the vast thorium deposits which are the future source of our energy. Thorium technology will ensure India’s energy security. BJP will, therefore, look for an alternative alignment for the proposed Sethu-Samudram Channel Project (SSCP).â€￾

The manifesto also promises that the party will exempt all armed forces and paramilitary personnel from income tax if voted to power. In another populist promise, it said it would exempt individuals with an income of up to Rs.300,000 per year from income tax.

Moreover it will bring down interest rates on housing loans to make urban housing affordable and give complete tax exemption to citizens above the age of 60.

The election manifesto, which was released at the BJP headquarters in the national capital, promises to provide cheap food grains at around Rs 2/kg for the families living Below Poverty Line (BPL).

The party has promised to provide at least 35 kg of rice at Rs 2 per Kg to BPL families every month as against 30kg promised by Congress at Rs 3/kg.

Party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the party will also implement the successful IT and industrial model of Gujarat government, girl child welfare programme Ladali Laxmi implemented by Madhya Pradesh and affordable food grain of the Chhattisgarh government through out the country.

The party has also promised to provide bicycles for school-going girl child of Below Poverty Line families in a bid to address the school drop out issue and to increase the rate of literacy among the rural population.

The election manifesto also addresses the problems being faced by the agriculture sector. It has promised to provide farm loans at four per cent interest and full waiver of all existing farm loans.
