A report of The National Commission for Women said that seventy percent of Indian girls are below the age of Eighteen years at the time of marriage. Shocking, isn't it? To know that child marriage is still prevalent in India , when we pride ourselves in being modern. Proud Indians What's your take on this? Don't you think child marriage in India should be stopped with immediate effect?
 
child marriage is something which should be prevented. the females who are not yet 18 should not marry as they are not mentally and physically eligible to take up marriage. this is proven scientifically and it is better to have marriage after the age of 18. sometimes if women is below 18 and bare child, there are some complications which lead to death of the child.
 
One of the biggest evil that is prevailing in indian society is Child Marriages. child marriage is a crime and a sin. How can one on earth marry children at their tender age. Children are suppose to study, play and dream, they are not meant to take the responsibility of the family on their shoulders. But still many girls at the age of 10 are handling the burden of home and become the mother at the age of 14. this is simply not done and government should formulate some policies taht keep a regular check on child marriages.
 
Child marriages are banned in india but still people practice this ritual for the sake of their culture. Many children are still got married at the age of studying and in fact they do not know how to speak are forcibly married. Later on many issues pop up due to this practice between the children who are married at this stage. It should be completely banned by the government and must be made punishable by law.
 
Child marriage is a sin. How can you marry those children who do not even know to spell their name? This is simply disgusting and parents should be put behind the bars who forcibly made their children wed at such a small age. this practice is illegal but still is practiced by the rural people at large scale. I was once stunned after seeing the pictures of child marriages in some magazine.
 
@sweetagel: i completely agree with this statement that child marriage is a sin. When there is a institution of marriages made by the people then why people take advantage of such rituals before time. Child marriage is a sin and it has to be because people are tieng up those children who do not know the importance and meaning of marriage in their lives. It should be strongly opposed by the people and the government.
 
Child marriages take place in almost all the rural parts of India. Though people in the urban cities live in an advanced more, such sins take place in the rural areas. Govt. and private authorities must come up and educate the people living in the rural areas about the ill effects of child marriage.
 
Yes, Child marriages are very much prevalent in the rural areas of India and people haven't yet recognized it as an social evil. Young girls are given away for marriages which is causing them to face complicated pregnancies at tender age. Government and NGOs must start awareness campaign against such issues.
 
Child marriage is still prevalent in many remote areas of states like Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Harryana etc even in this 21st century when man has reached the Moon and Mars. It is really appreciable that many NGO's have taken initiative to stop this evil custom but still it has a long way to go. Education can be an effective way to put an end to this ill practice.
 
Child Marriage is yet another social evil which is still prevalent in many parts of the country. It has been reported that many girls are below 18 years, which is the legal age of a girl to get married. Child marriage can cause many adverse effects on the girl and hamper in mental as well as physical development. By giving birth to a child if the mother is below 18 years, can cause death of both the mother and the child, the child may be born with many defects, can be malnourished etc. Child Marriage should be completely abolished and education can be a great way to create awareness against it.
 
Child marriage is a social evil which is still prevalent in the some places of India and the main reason for it is poverty. Due to poverty many parents marry their daughter at a very young age. Another reason of child marriage is that it provides protection to the girls. It is a socio-economic problem and this can be removed not only by enacting acts but by removing poverty and spreading education.
