Chitradurga a hamlet also known by the names of Chitradurg, Chitrakaldurga, and Chittaldurg is situated in the state of Karnataka. The place is enclosed by rock hills, valleys, and towering boulders of numerous shapes. The hamlet is also known as the Stone Fortress or the Kallina Kote. The place has a rich historical significance and finds mention in the great epic Mahabharata. The place was under the rule of several South Indian dynasties and this makes it a heritage destination of Karnataka and this is evident from several forts and historical monuments present in the place. Some of the major tourist attractions of the place include Chitradurga Fort, Banashankari Temple, Bombe Chavadi Mandap, Ekanatheshware Temple,Chandravalli and Ashoka Siddapura, Nayakanahatti Temple, Ankali Mutt, Dasaratha Rameshwara and Adumalleshwara Temple.
