A class VII student of Bhavan's Rajaji Vidyashram in Kilpauk, Chennai, Chitresh is India's youngest athlete to participate at the 2014 Asian Games being held in Incheon, South Korea. At the age of 12 years, this would make him one of the youngest ever participants at the Asian Games.
Chitresh, who sails in the Optimist Dinghy category, has traveled widely, including across countries like Ireland, France, UK, Malaysia, Turkey, the Netherlands, Bahrain and Malta.The Optimist is a small, single handed sailing dinghy that is meant for use by kids up to the age of 15. It is one of the most popular sailing dinghies in the world, with over 1,50,000 boats officially registered with the class. A true champion in the sport at the age of 12.
