New currency symbol for Indian Rupee is One more reason to feel proud to be Indian
Whatever may be the shortcomings it is a reality that the Indian state structure has been able to maintain a democratic environment and is steadfast to go on with the same even in the coming decades. But its sacred obligation does not end here; it has got to express the nation’s cultural ethos and fundamental beliefs or conviction (stimulating it to abide by democratic principles) in each and every respect. Unfortunately, the earlier Indian governments had little time for all these and hence this vital issue was put on the back burner. Luckily enough, the present government under an erudite premier seems to be different and thanks to it, the Indian emblem of money – rupee – has finally got an encouragement.
After decades of waiting, Indian rupee as got a novel representation — a blending of the Devanagari 'Ra' along with Roman 'R' – and with this it has been able to join privileged currencies akin to the British pound, Japanese yen, Euro and certainly US dollar in having a distinctive identity. There has been another major development. It, in each and every manner, does reflect Indian ethos and culture, would play a great role in differentiating the currency from the rupee or rupiah of several neighboring countries. These include Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and of course Sri Lanka.
In accordance with governmental clarifications, the brand new symbol has been the brainchild of proud Indian Udaya Kumar, a post-graduate of IIT and was okayed by the Central Cabinet from among a huger number of other designs and after lots of deliberations. What did influence the Central Cabinet of the Indian Government is that the pristine emblem does reflect the Indian frame of mind in the best manner. We can certainly conclude that at last Indian currency, endorsed by a more than- zillion dollar financial system, is at last making its charisma sensed on the global landscape. Indian economy will be able to contend with others in a more audacious manner, hence.
It’s good if this intrepid mind-set of Indian Government is found in other spheres too.
