Darasuram is an ancient town of Tamil Nadu an falls in the Thanjavur district. It is a small town in the district and attracts a lot of tourists from in and around the state.The town is popular for Airayateswara temple which is an ancient temple built in the 12th century by Rajaraja Chola II. The temple is also identified as the World Heritage Monument by UNESCO. This temple makes it a heritage destination and people from various places from all over the planet visits this town to witness the temple. It is well known for its architecture,beautiful stone carvings on the walls and pillars and the sculptures that depicts different stories of Lord Shiva.
