A zoo is an artificial habitat for the animals where they can live freely with good accommodation and food provided to them. But I think Delhi Zoo is somewhere lacking in certain areas such as the hygiene of the cages, cleaning of ponds, rules and restrictions on the visitors and security of the animals as well as of the general public. In comparison to the zoos of other places Delhi zoo is in much pathetic condition. I recently got a chance to visit there and I noticed many loopholes, the ponds in which the crocodiles, ducks, hippopotamus are kept happen to be so much dirty and unclean, the moment you go near to those ponds the odour of dirty water is just unbearable, then there were no security/watchman standing near the ponds and cages to keep the watch over the visitors illiterate folks were throwing peanuts, wafers and other things to the ducks, hippos, and birds, and other animals. The area where the Giraffes are kept is so dirty and surrounded by bad odour that is experienced even 1km prior to the spot. I found it very disappointing, as the hygiene, cleanliness and accommodation of the animals are the most important part of zoo but they are simply ignored.
What you have to say about this? Have you ever also noticed the same loopholes when you visited the Delhi Zoo?
