According to a recent survey by the Department of Education, over 5.23 lakhs of vacancies for the post of teachers are there at the elementary schools and an additional of 5.1 lakh of teachers would be required in the coming years. And around 7 lakh teachers are untrained and do not posses proper qualification for the profession. To address this issue, government has planned to start a national mission on teachers and teaching to improve the existing situation in India.

It is indeed very unfortunate that we suffer from lack of quality teachers and teaching. It is true that most of the teachers appointed specially in the elementary schools lack proper training and qualification. However, it is essential on the part of the Government as well as the school authorities to appoint proper teachers and conduct compulsory teachers training programs for betterment of the education that is being imparted.

Unfortunately, but yes the education system lacks quality teaching as well as teachers. It is corruption that is ruining the whole education system. Many teachers today, are appointed by taking bribe and not on the basis of educational qualification. It is important that trained teachers should be appointed and teachers training should be conducted to enhance the quality of the teachers as well as teaching.

India is a vast nation and education has not yet reached the interiors of the nation. However, in recent times, many schools have been opened in remote areas of India but there are no proper and sufficient teachers. In this way, India lacks in quality teachers and teaching. This is because of the vastness of the nation as well as it is due to lack of proper teacher training.
