It is important to learn all the Rules of the Fitness Center you have enrolled into before you start using the facilities. Just as we often express irritation at equipments/wash rooms etc left shabby, the person walking in next would be equally disgusted, if we are careless too! Here are some tips to make those few hours for you and others a happy, relaxed place to be in :-
Learn the specific rules that govern your gym or health club, and practice them. They are designed to promote safety and enjoyment for all.
1. Carry a towel with you at all times and wipe off equipment after use.
2. Carry a plastic water bottle to keep yourself hydrated during workouts, but avoid spilling or dribbling on the equipment.
3. Sign up for the use of cardiovascular equipment (such as treadmills and stair-climbing machines) well in advance. During peak hours, schedules are often posted with 15- to 20-minute intervals.
4. Accommodate others in the weight room. Allow people to work in their sets with you if a line is forming for a specific machine. Offer to reset weight and apparatus settings.
5. Return equipment to its proper place when you're finished using it. Be courteous and aware at all times to ensure enjoyable visits to the gym.
6. Don't be afraid to ask someone for advice about specific exercises. Most people will be more than happy to share some tips with you.
7. Change shirts halfway through a workout if you're sweating excessively.
8. Bring your portable radio or cassette player so you can control the music you listen to.
9. In the gym shower, do not leave hair all over the shower floor. It means that someone else will have to clean up before they can wash. Instead, rinse down the area with the shower head.
10. When changing weights on the bar, make sure that someone is holding one side.
Go ahead, enjoy your fitness routine!!
