Gandikota is a heritage destination of Andhra Pradesh and is well-known for its rich historical background. It is small village is situated in the Kadapa District on the bank of River Pennar. The village is well known for the Gandikota fort as the fort houses few temples, a granary, a masjid, a palace and a few more structures. The architecture of the temples portrays the Vijayanagara style and this stands as a proof that the village was under the rule of the Vijayanagara kingdom. The fort attracts the tourists from various place to Gandikota, making it a popular heritage destination of the state.
