Giridih is situated amid the forests and falls in the Chottanagpur region of Jharkhand. The forest of Giridih is well known for its rich biodiversity. Sal, kusum, mahua, simul, kend, palas, bhelwa, bamboo, salai and asan are some of the trees found in this forest and leopard, jackals, bears, foxes, sambhar, pigs, hog deer, spotted deer and hares are the animals that are seen here. The place has rich fertile land and the rivers Usri and Barakar flows pass through the district. The district is affluent in mineral resources. This is a religious destination as it hosts many festivals of religious importance, which attracts a horde of devotees from all over the nation.
