Guruvayur is one of the most significant pilgrimage destinations of Southern India. It is a small town situated in the Thrissur district of Kerala. The place stages many Hindu temples which plays an important part in shaping the culture of the place. Guruvayur Temple, which is one of the most strict temples in South India and does not allow non-Hindus to enter the temple. The temple houses the idols of Lord Krishna, Lord Shiva, Sree Ayyappa, Ganapathy and Edathedathy Kavil Bhagavathy. Apart from being a Hindu pilgrimage destination, the place is also a hub of rich culture and literature. Some of the rare literature work are to be found here. The number of pilgrims are more on the "Ekadshi" of every month. One of the major attraction of the place apart from the temple is the Guruvayur Festival, which is held for 10 days during February and March every year. This 10 days long festival showcases the culture of the town and Elephant Race known Anayottam is held which attracts tourists from all over the World.
