Haridwar is the most prominent and significant destination of Hindu pilgrimage. It is situated on the bank of the Mighty and Holy river Ganga in the state of Uttarakhand. Haridwar is considered as one among the ‘sapta-puris’, the seven sacred cities of Hindu mythology. The city is also known as the Gateway to Gods. The Kumbh Mela is also held in this city on the bank of the River Ganga. The place got its significance for the Holy River Ganga as it is believed according to Hindu Mythology that taking a dip in the river washes off all the sins. Haridwar is also the Gateway to the 4 Dhams, Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. Rishikesh is just a few kms away from the city which is the hub of Yoga and meditation center which attracts a lot of tourist from the World. Ganga Aarti is one of the major attraction of Haridwar which is held every morning and evening on the bank of the River Ganga.
