Indian news channels should be named entertainment TV channels

There is an old quote-Quality is better than quantity. This is something which Indian news channels of the present era need to understand. As the media sector is seeing a cut-throat competition sector, the news channels now-a-days resort to anything and everything they could possibly do to fetch high TRPs.

One of such tricks is a enigma called breaking news, through which these channels try to attract the mass audience. The Wikipedia (the online reliable encyclopaedia) states, “Breaking news is a current event that broadcasters feel warrants the interruption of scheduled programming in order to report its details. Its use is often loosely assigned to the most significant story of the moment or a story that is being covered live. It could be a story that is simply of wide interest to viewers and has little impact otherwise.” However, the channels, which are meant to provide news to the viewers, are churning out breaking news with great ferocity and spontaneity and are hence packaging any juicy content as news.

These India's News channels tries to cash in on the emotions, inquisition and sociological background of the viewers. The channels like India TV also broadcast stupid stuff such as calf born with 2 heads, exclusive coverage on celebrities' weddings, ways to go to heaven and many such other stories. Shouldn't such channels better be renamed as entertainment channel?
 
excatly.. they should be named as an entertainment channels.. they are showing nothing but entertain people all the time by showing the laughter challenge clips, serial clips and different programs and useless stories..
 
Too many enetertainment news!!

There are different types of news channels in India and among them some are really good. But majority of the news channels give emphasis on the news that are from Bollywood, Hollywood. They also telecast different news of the serials telecasted in different other channels. Hence the news channels are telecasting different programs from the world of entertainment.

Several reasons can be put together to ban a news channel. The news channels are made to provide news to the billions of people in any country. But there are some rules and regulation which are supposed to abide by the channels. As for instance no news channels repeat the same news throughout the day and this question has been put on by the MP of Parliament.

Some of the news channels in India are something more of like entertainment channels. They forecast more of the spicy content rather than showing the actual news happening in and around. They do this for the sake of increasing their TRPs and making big bucks. But this does not count them as the real media.
 
Should news channels be named entertainment channels

There are several dedicated new channels that broadcast information round the clock. But now these channels are taking more a form of entertainment rather than real NEWS channels. They are more concerned about the celebrity’s personal life, rather than highlighting the real issues. An even if some real issues pops up, then media would use this piece of information more in their favor of TRP rating rather than educating people or fight back for legal rights. The Media has lost its glory and path.
 
presently the news channels have become more of entertainment channels showing all kinds of soaps and tv shows and giving comments on it. the whole idea of news has been changed by such channels. there should be separate channels for entertainment news, but the normal news channels who are ought to show some actual news are showing tv shows just to gain trps
 
yes i agree that indian news channels are these days concentrating more and more on entertainment news. be the scandals or any celeb getting into trouble. even the serious media like NDTV and CNN are first to show such news. and coming to channels like AAJ TAK and STAR NEWS, these are not news channels but entertainment channels.
 
There is no denying the fact that indian media should be named as entertainment news channels as the are busy in showing which is useless to people or what they want to see in their leisure time. Indian news channels are behaving more like an entertainment channels by showing laughter challenge shows and making the show whole exaggerated.
 
Well today’s media channel is mix of all channels
They don’t involve in social awareness programs but its sure they’ll involve in soap operas every day.
They involve in BOLLYWOOD gossips, sports centre, fashion world, cartoon world etc. so we can use any name for today’s media
 
yes indeed they should be named as entertainment TV channels because most of the times they broadcast clips of TV soaps as a news. some even show shocking video clips from youtube or other such websites. moreover they show all this with the tag of exclusive news! how can it be called a news? they are changing the whole meaning of news and acting so irresponsible!
 
Again a good example of irresponsibility of media and their careless behavior. They are running behind the trp's and they would do anything for that. They can even make the political figure a celebrity and portray them as the hot icon of the nation for the TRP's. Somebody please tell these media people that Hina Rabbani khar is the foreign minister not the OPRAH WINFREY.
