Is media passing through a credibility crisis?

Indian media seems to be more focused about earning money rather than telecasting some important news. It has been witnessed that media shows some less important news and Cricket is extremely hyped out but does not come up with any important news. What is the reason behind it? Is media passing through a credibility crisis?

Indian media seems to be more focused about earning money rather than telecasting some important news. It has been witnessed that media shows some less important news and Cricket is extremely hyped out but does not come up with any important news. What is the reason behind it? Is media passing through a credibility crisis?

Precisely, that is what i believe. Indian TV media has lots its credibility on high ground. We expect atleast few TV media channels to be honest and reliable in terms of information they give out. India needs channels like BBC which even though may have committed few scams, has credibility to bring out the truth. Don't we really have any capable Indian who can selflessly start a media channel which will have ulterior motives apart from making profits?

Indian television, especially the news channels have lost their credibility and have become into a money making business rather than carrying out the responsibility that they are entrusted with. News channels come up with news that are most often irrelevant and try to divert the people from the actual cause. We do have a lot of potential but it is not used in a constructive way. People should force the media to act properly and focus on bringing out the truth rather than playing a blame game for every incident.
