Is the Khap Panchayat's decision to marry off girls at the age of 16years justified?

Khap Panchayat blames the victims of rape and also declared that a girl should be married off at the age of 16 years. This is anarchy of the Khap Panchayat that is going on specially in the State of Haryana. They do not have the authority to make laws of a state and decide on the age of marriage. It is illegal to marry off a girl below 18years of age. Instead of giving punishment to the accused, they are blaming the victim. It is utter injustice and Government should intervene and take action. Such a decision of the Khap Panchayat cannot be justified in my view. What do you think?

The Khap Panchayat has blamed the rape victims and said that "Girls should be married at 16, so that they don’t need to go elsewhere for their sexual needs. This way rapes will not occur.” How far is this logical? Today even married women are being raped and such cases are reported quite often. It is really sad that we live in a society where even today, women are being blamed for everything. I agree that the decision of the khap cannot be justified.

No it is not a justified decision taken by the Khap Panchayat to marry off girls at the age of 16years. Will marrying a girl at the age of 16 years reduce rape? Moreover, a 16 year old girl is not matured to carry out the responsibility that comes along with marriage as a 16 year old girl is not matured enough to handle the consequences of married life. It is no way a solution to control rape. Government should probe into the matter and take necessary action.
