Kamarpukur is a small town in the Arambagh subdivision of the Hooghly District of West Bengal. The town is a popular pilgrimage destination as it is the birth place of Sri Ramkrishna. The canal Bhutir-Khal also flows from north to south on the western border of Kamarpukur, which joins Damodar River and this river is associated with the life of Sri Ramakrishna. The town is also rich in heritage and it is evident from the presence of many historical monuments. The town was ruled by great Bengali kingdom of Bhurshu, Mughals, Portuguese, Dutch, British, French and Germans. The town has many remains of ancient temples and historical monuments and the Ramkrishna Math is a major attraction of this place.
