Kannada Weddings, like Malayalee weddings is performed in a very simple way. It is carried out following all the rituals and traditions of Karnataka. Although, it is least colourful and simple, it is enjoyable. Scores of rituals are performed before and after the wedding, which is a weeklong affair and gives a chance to the relatives of both the bride and the groom to enjoy to the fullest. The pre-wedding rituals include Nischay Tamulam or Fixing of the Alliance, Naandi Custom, Kaashi Yatre Tradition, and Dev Karya Ceremony. The wedding is solemnized in the simple way unlike any other Indian wedding. The post wedding rituals include Graha Pravesh Tradition, Name Change Ceremony wherein the groom decides a name for his wife and inscribes it in a plate of rice with a ring. It is followed by giving five sarees to the bride and lastly a reception party is organized which is a grand one to mark the union of both the souls.
