Karkala has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is also a pilgrimage destination situated in the state of Karnataka. It is a small town and has a rich historical past, which dates back to 10th century. Bhadrakali Mata Temple, Brahmani Temple and Gurudwara Shree Kabootar Sahib are the major tourist attraction of the town and this makes it a pilgrimage destination.
