Katra is a small town in the princly state of Jammu and Kashmir. Katra is popular as it is the gateway to one of the most important holy place Vaishno Devi. The town is situated at a height of approximately 750 metres and is situated at a distance of 42kms from the city of Jammu. It is a major stop-over destination for pilgrims headed for Vaishno Devi.
