Matheran is designated as the smallest hill station of India which is located about 800 meters above sea level. It is in the situated in the Raigad District of Maharashtra. It a small town that was unveiled during the British reign. The town is surrounded by dense forest, Jambol and is know for its rich biodiversity. Although a very small hill station, it is one of the most sought after tourist destinations in India. Matheran is situated at a distance of 90 km and 120 km from Mumbai and Pune respectively.
