Mawphlang the Sacred forest

Sacred forest is an unique feature of Meghalaya. These forest have been preserved for traditional religious purpose since time unknown. Mawphlang in the East Khasi district is one of the most sacred forest of the State and is also declared as Eco destination. The forest is a great attraction for nature lovers and many trees and plants having curative power, varieties of orchids and butterflies can be found in the sacred forest. It is just 25kms from Shillong. I have visited the place and very much liked it for its natural beauty. It is a must visit destination, especially for nature lovers.

I have heard about the Sacred Woods of Meghalaya but did not get an opportunity to visit it. Mawphlang is one of the most sacred among all the sacred woods of Meghalagya and the forest has end numbers of plants with medicinal value which is used to cure many diseases. many botanist and researchers go to this place to carry out research on the plants that are to be found only in this sacred forest. If I go to Mawphlang than how do I need to go and from where? Are there and provisions for staying at night?
