Mayiladuthurai is a pilgrimage destination of South India and is lies in the Thanjavur area on the banks of the River Cauvery. The town of Mayiladuthurai is situated in the Nagapattinam district and the place is famous for mythology and several mythological tales are related to this town. It is believed that goddess Parvati was born as a peacock and worshiped Lord Shiva in the form of a peacock.The town is also well-known for gold business and agriculture is another major occupation of the people. The World renowned Natyanjali festival is hosted by this town and this festival attracts a lot of tourists from all over the World.
