The Madhya Pradesh government, led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has sought help from Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank (WB). They have asked both the organisation to provide them with a loan Rs 8,900 crore, in bid to ensure power supply in the rural areas. The government has decided to utilise the amount in reducing the electric distribution system losses, improving reliability of power, increasing system capacity and improving the customer connectivity. A government official said, "Three power distribution companies of the state, MP Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company, Purva Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company and Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company have demanded three loans of Rs 3,000 crore, Rs 3,500 crore and Rs 2,400 crore respectively for the purpose."
