Nagapattinam is a historical city of Tamil Nadu and is situated on the banks of Bay of Bengal. It is a coastal city and is also known by the names of Cholakula Vallippatinam, Naganadu and Shiva Rajadhani. The city was once a major Buddhist center and the presence of the stupas in the city is a proof of it. The city was also invaded by the Ducth and later by the British. The city has a rich historical past and this makes it a popular heritage destination of Tamil Nadu.
