Nanded is a popular pilgrimage destination of India and is situated in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. The place is a famous Sikh pilgrimage place of India as it houses the Hazur Sahib Gurudwara. It is said that the last Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Govindsinghji Maharaj died here. The city is the second largest city of the region and has gained religious importance as it is the birth place of renowned Maratha saint poets Vishnupant Shesa, Raghunath Shesha and Vaman Pandit. The city is an important education hub as well as the foremost learning centre of Sanskrit in Maharashtra. Apart from the Gurudwara, the Renuka Devi temple is another important place of the city which attracts a lot of pilgrims.
