Pahalgam is a well-known town of Jammu and Kashmir as it is the base camp for pilgrimage to Amarnath. The town is situated in the Anantnag district at an altitude of 2,740 metres above sea level. The town of Pahalgam lies at the meeting point of the rivers Aru and Sheshnag. The town is generally crowed with the pilgrims of Amarnath and otherwise a peaceful and calm town of the state.
