Patriotism is an individual’s deep compassion, devotion and attachment for his/her nation. Our Indian history is engulfed with numerous of patriots who set tremendously high standards of patriotism in front the mankind, they not only contributed their each bit of hard work, love and respect but they simply sacrificed their lives for the country. And this is what has made them unique and memorable forever. A patriot is always focused upon the welfare and well being of the country. He feels immensely attached to each and every activity, accomplishment and issue related to his nation and he is also determined to rescue the dignity and grace of the culture, society and other significant spheres of the country. In the present scenario can we claim to have such patriots among the Indian youth of today? Apparently No! The youth feel themselves being constrained and confined within the shell of patriotism. They do not feel connected and emotionally attached to their nation.

Patriotism cannot be taught but yes, it can be cultivated and nurtured in the hearts of the people. One cannot be forced to feel the love and respect for the country but it should automatically come out in front. The youth should not understand Patriotism as merely a concept but it should be their ‘prime perception’ to perceive the nation. No country can rise and flourish on its own, it is only the people who create its destiny. The patriots who sacrificed their lives, were not unwise. They did that all because they realized that the country truly deserves their devotion and support. They realized their duties to share both the joys and sorrows of the country. They were not extraordinary people but their devotion and love for the country truly made them exceptional. Likewise it is the time for the youth to realize their duties towards the motherland. Thus the youth should not limit themselves and rather open up their hearts and embrace their country with all its success and failures. Why, to be selfish in loving our motherland? It is the time to make huge improvements with all our potential and resources. Let us pay the patronage to those great patriots who sacrificed their lives to create a free India for their successors. We are a part of the free and modern India and moreover this is our own land thereby it is our responsibility to give affection, support and devotion to this. What do the Proud Indians think about this?
