Chattisgarh is a new state of India and Raipur is the major commercial hub of the city along with being the capital of the state. The tributaries of the river Mahanadi namely Sendur, Pairy, Sondur, Kharun, Joan and Shivnath, flows by the city making the land fertile and fit for agriculture. Raipur is also known as the "Rice Bowl of India" as it is the major rice producer of India. The city has a rich history as it was ruled by many rulers and earlier it was a major state of Chattisgarh. Raipur has developed into a major provider of coal and related industries that deals in aluminium, steel and power. Mahant Ghasi Das Memorial Museum, Mahamaya Temple, Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary etc are some of the major tourist attractions of the city.
