Role of astrology in Indian Marriages

Astrology plays a major role in Indian marriages. Matching horoscope for marriages is an age old ritual followed by every Indian. Horoscopes are matched before marriages to confirm about the marital life of the would-be couple, if there is any fault in the horoscope, know about compatibility etc. However, I believe that if the boy and the girl likes each others company, their mind-set matches, there is understanding between the two then any marriage can be successful there is no need for matching horoscopes.

What are your views? Is matching of horoscope necessary for a successful marriage?

Indian marriages are solemnized by following the traditions as well as rituals and in most of the Indian cultures, horoscopes are matched. It is done to find out the compatibility between the bride and the groom. I don't really think that matching of horoscope is necessary for a marriage to be successful but this an age old tradition that has been followed and is still continuing and disregarding it will be like an insult to the traditions and rituals.

I don't think that matching of horoscope necessary for a successful marriage. I agree that marriages are made in heaven but matching of the horoscope cannot decide the success of any marriage. It depends of the emotional compatibility of two individuals that makes a marriage successful. Matching the horoscope is just a satisfaction in the mind and has nothing to do with the success or failure of any marriage.
