Rudraprayag is small town situated on the juncture of two rivers Alaknanda and Mandakini and being the meeting pint of two holy rivers, the place has gained the status of a religious town. It is situated in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. The town of Rudrapraya has several mythological stories associated with it. It is a sacred place for the worshipers of Lord Shiva as it it believed that Lord Shiva got into his "Rourda Avatar" here after the death of his beloved wife Sati. Some believe that Lord Shiva appeared to bless Narad Muni as Rudra. Madmaheshwar Temple, the Koteshwar Mahadev Temple and the Rudranath Temple are some of the places visited by the pilgrims.
