Chandrasekhar Azad is counted among the great martyrs of India, who dedicated his life towards making India free from the British rule. He was on July 23, 1906 in Badarka village of Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh to Pandit Sitaram Tiwari and Jagarani Devi. He was one of the renowned revolutionaries of India and believed that India can only gain freedom through arm revolution. He was the founder of the Hindustan Social Republican Association and was the mentor of revolutionaries like Bhagt Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, etc. He was involved in the assassination of Saunders, the Deputy Superintendent of Police. Once when he was arrested, he vowed never to be caught again live by the British and on February 27, 1931, while he went to meet two of his comrades, he was identified by the British Cops and was surrounded by a huge brigade of Cops and seeing no means to escape, he shot himself on the temple.
