Saheed Sukhdev Thappar was one of the martyrs of India's freedom struggle. He was born on 15 May 1907 in Ludhiana, Punjab and had been a bystander of the cruel violence that the British Government, since his childhood and this encouraged him to jump into the freedom movement of India and make the nation free from the British atrocities. He was the contemporary of Bhagat Singh and was a close associate of him. He came in touch with Bhagat Singh while in National College, Lahore and since then, they worked towards the goal of making India free from the colinial rule. He joined the Hindustan Social Republican Association and actively took part in India’s freedom struggle. He also planned revolutionary groups in Punjab and other areas of North India. He along with his comrades started the 'Naujawan Bharat Sabha' at Lahore. The organization was involved in various activities, mainly cogging the youth for the freedom struggle indoctrinate a coherent logical approach, fight communalism and end the practice of untouchability. He assisted Bhagat Singh in various revolutionary activities and was hanged on23rd March 1931, when he was only 24 years old along with Bhagat Singh and Rajguru.
