Saundatti is situated in the Belgaum District of Karnataka and is well known for its ancient temples and rich historical heritage. It is one of the oldest towns of the district and is a popular heritage as well as pilgrimage destination. The town has a rich history as it was once the capital of Ratta Dynasty. The rich history of Ratta Dynasty and the Rashtrakuta Dynasty can be witnessed in the form of two pillars present in this town. Apart from these famous pillars, the town has several temples that attracts the devotees from in and around the state. Some of these temples are Yallammagudda, Shirasangi Shri Kalika Devi Temple, Savadatti Temples, Puradeshwara Temple, Navilatirtha and Ankeshwara Temple.
