Recently researchers have claimed from their findings that banning of cell phones is equivalent to extension of a school year by five days. However, this finding is open to criticism and is quite debatable. With children getting exposure to advanced technology and the effects of globalization exhibiting its impacts, cell phones have definitely become a point of concern for regulating student behavior. Distraction, misuse and much more have been attributed to its negative impacts. However we simply cannot ignore the benefits it offers during times of emergency or during intervention of the need of extra information. To emphasize the seriousness of the same, the shooting in Columbine High School is a good example, where the students had immediately contacted the police, contrast to which the casualties could have been much higher.
