Sivakasi is a pilgrimage destination of Tamil Nadu, situated in the Virudhunagar District. It is a significant place and i famous for its its fireworks and matchbox industries. The city of Sivakasi houses several temples and is famous for its various local festivals. The place has a rich historical past which dates back to 600 years. The city was ruled by Harikesari Parakkirama Pandian of Madurai. The city has religious significance for the lingam brought by the Pandia king from Varanasi. The place has several temples which makes it a major pilgrimage destination of South India. Some of the major attractions of this place include Viswanatha Swamy, Badrakaliamman Temple, The Parasakthi Mari Amman Temple, Andal Kovil, Tiruthangal, Thiruchuli, Sattur, Sri Venkatachalapathy,Mariamman Koil, Ayyanar Falls, Muthaliar Oothu, Pilavakkal Dam, Nenmeni, Kullur Sandhai Reservoir, and Vembakottai.
