Our Indian society needs to make numerous of changes at large with regard of its many of the old established philosophies that have been prevalent for a long time back. These unhealthy social practices and dogmas need be terminated and some of them demand a complete reform. And here a social activist plays a vital role in bringing and implementing those modifications and reforms. Indian women have always raised their voice against many social issues and taboos for centuries because they feel themselves being responsible to bring the changes in the society. One cannot forget the remarkable contributions of many female social activists who have struggled and faced so many troubles in order to combat from the social taboos of female foeticide, communalism, Eco conservation, and women empowerment in India. These female social activists have had constantly tried hard to bring radical social movements in the country, they not only fought for the rights and freedom of the human beings but also for conserving the wildlife of the nation. There are several female social activists who have been working under the collaboration with many NGOs in India and their focus is completely fixed over the development and upliftment of the rural areas and women belonging to the under-developed and deprived sections. Medha Pathkar, Nafisa Ali, Kiran Bedi, Menaka Gandhi, Shabana Azmi, Reetika Kehra are few names of the active social activists in Indian society.
