Somnathpur is an ancient village, situated in the Mysore district of Karnataka. Somnathpur is considered as a sacred place of Hindus and the ancient temples attracts a lot of pilgrims and tourists from various places. The place has a rich historical past and was ruled by the HoHoysalas dynasty, which is evident from the architecture of the temples. Chennakesava Temple is one of the major attraction of the village and there are various other temples that are visited by the pilgrims from in and around the state. The village is also famous for its rich culture, art and crafts and Kunitha is one of the important folk dances of the village. The Keshava temple is another important pilgrimage destination of the village.
