Thirunelli is also known as ‘Thekkan Kasi’ and is a popular pilgrimage destination of South India. Thirunelli is situated in Wayanad in Kerala and is popular for the holy mountain stream Papanasini, which flows through the town and is believed to the the meeting point of the two holy rivers Ganga and Saraswati. The water of this holy river stream is believed to wash away all the sins and this is why it is called ‘Thekkan Kasi’. The place is situated amid the hills, valleys and dense forests, which makes it a beautiful destination and has several temples which are 3000years old.The place also offers adventure opportunities which attracts a lot of tourists from all over the World.
