Thiruvannamalai is a famous pilgrimage destination of Tamil Nadu and it is one of the oldest towns of Indian well-known for study of spiritualism. The town has several mythological tales related to it and there are a lot of mythological beliefs related to the city. Thiruvannamalai was an adobe of scholars and saints in the ancient times and it was believed that even thinking about the name of the town can provide salvation. However, these beliefs have turned this town into a major pilgrimage destination of India. Karthikai Deepam festival is the major festival of the town and attracts a lot of tourists. Arunachaleswara temple, Skandashramam ashram, Ramana Ashram,The Crocodile Park, Mamara Guhai, Gingee Fort etc are some of the major tourist attractions of the place.
